He is an early decarbonation and climate investor who has been actively investing in renewable assets and decarbonisation companies for more than a decade.
Pierre previously worked at TotalEnergies for 16 years, most notably in the Gas, Renewables and Power division, before joining Tikehau Capital in 2018 to launch the Private Equity Climate Practice.
Pierre currently co-heads Tikehau Capital’s flagship private equity decarbonisation strategies (T2 Energy Transition fund 1 and Tikehau Decarbonisation Fund 2), both in partnership with TotalEnergies. This fund and its co-investments have raised more than €1.4 billion and has now invested close to €1.2 billion in 14 Europeans companies. Pierre is a board member of 5 companies actively involved in combatting climate change: GreenYellow, which develops solutions that improve the energy efficiency of retail outlets; Enso, a Spanish biomass boiler specialist; Cool Planet Group, an energy efficiency company; Amarenco, a leading global solar power producer; and Isotrol, a leading software provider for renewable optimisation.
Pierre also sits on the Group’s Private Equity Investment Committee and has played a pivotal role in the launch of the private equity business’ subsequent climate strategies, including the launch of Tikehau Green Assets and Tikehau Regenerative Agriculture fund, that was launched in 2022 in partnership with AXA and Unilever. These private equity climate strategies are representing 2,4 billion euro of asset under management as of June 2023.
In his capacity as Group Climate Director, Pierre now spearheads Tikehau Capital’s impact investment platform that is constituted by more than 30 investments professionals in 7 countries and more than €3.5 billion of Asset Under Management. The Group’s impact platform focuses on climate and biodiversity- dedicated strategies that address the climate emergency and spans across all Tikehau Capital’s asset classes within private and public markets. Pierre is a member of the Tikehau Impact Committee which ensures that the investments made by any of the Group’s impact fund are aligned with their respective purpose.
In addition, Pierre sits on the Climate Committee of the board of the French Sovereign Fund BPI France and represents Tikehau Capital in the Net Zero Asset Managers Alliance and the One Planet Sovereign Wealth Fund initiatives which brings together an international group of asset managers and sovereign funds with over $100 trillion in Assets Under Management. Inspired during international travel with his family throughout Mexico and Guatemala as a youth, Matt has long been devoted to environmental and social issues.
