HIGHLIGHTS 2026

Capital with Conviction
New York City, 24 September 2026 -
The seventh edition of Impact Summit America welcomed a full house of highly-curated audience of institutional investors, asset owners, impact fund managers, and industry partners at the Harvard Club of New York City, as an affiliated event of Climate Week NYC 2026.
We opened by asking how the room felt compared with a year ago. Many felt the direction is right, but the pace is not. That impatience framed our theme, Capital with Conviction, and a reminder from Yana Kaloshina, Managing Director, Phenix Capital Group - Impact Intelligence, in her opening remarks: "Private capital can and has a tremendous impact on the direction of our future.” Capital flow and where we invest in today will determine how the future will look like.
Our theme asked investors to go beyond performative gestures and think about the structural purpose of capital. The discussions across the plenary and breakout sessions showed what that means in practice: rethinking how capital is deployed when government steps back, and showing that impact investments can stand on their financial merits.
Conviction is not optimism. It is a position you hold when things get hard.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
Opportunity lies where sectors and capital connect
Challenges like climate resilience and adaptation cut across infrastructure, housing, insurance, agriculture and heath at once, and much of their investments potential only becomes visible when sectors are viewed together. The summit highlighted that capital must connect in the same way with public, private, development and philanthropic investors combining to absorb risk, prove models and scale what works.
When government steps back, it takes more than money with it
As public budgets move from subsidies to guarantees and political narratives shift, the role of catalytic capital is changing. Panellists discussed how its role is no longer only to open new markets, but to hold together the ones already built, restoring the scale, structure and standardisation that keep years of progress from being undone.
Impact is proving it can stand on its own
The sessions put a question to the market: does impact hold up on its own? Panels on climate infrastructure and secondaries pointed to the same answer. The strongest companies are impactful by their business model, and their case rests on fundamentals rather than labels.
AI will be shaped, with or without impact investors
The conversation has moved from whether to engage with AI to how to steer it toward good outcomes. Its clearest value lies in closing information gaps and access for low-income communities, but that depends on strong governance and on investors, tech companies, governments and communities working together.

The defining opportunity of 2026 is interconnected impact: treating social outcomes, climate strategy, workforce development and public policy not as separate silos but as parts of one integrated system. This keynote explores how the changing landscape of public funding creates an opportunity for a new era of impact capital: enabling investors to deploy capital with deeper intentionality, clearer choices and stronger underwriting to address complex challenges in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
