Breakfast workshop | Phenix Impact Investing Academy:
Blending finance and impact
Blended finance is a game-changer for mobilising capital towards impactful projects in the Nordic region, especially in areas like clean energy, sustainable infrastructure, and climate resilience. This workshop focuses on how institutional investors, development finance institutions, and philanthropic capital can collaborate to de-risk investments and scale impact-driven initiatives within the unique Nordic context.
Participants will explore:
Core structures and mechanisms of blended finance (e.g., concessional capital, guarantees, and public-private partnerships) tailored to Nordic markets.
Case studies of successful blended finance initiatives from the Nordics, highlighting regional strengths in sustainability, transparency, and innovation.
Strategies for overcoming barriers to scaling impact in the Nordic ecosystem, including local regulatory frameworks, geopolitical risks, and stakeholder engagement.
Investing in the Nordic energy transition: opportunities and risks
As the Nordics accelerate their energy transition and aim to become leaders in clean energy exports, institutional investors face a unique mix of opportunities and challenges. From financing renewables to navigating geopolitical risks and regulatory shifts, this panel explores the critical role investors play in shaping the region’s green future. Key discussions will include risk management strategies for energy infrastructure investments, balancing sustainability with profitability, and understanding how evolving regulations impact ownership and valuation of assets. Gain insights into the trends defining this dynamic sector and actionable strategies for maximizing returns while driving meaningful impact.
Beyond the CPI: institutional investor strategies for corruption risk management
The Nordics have long been regarded as bastions of transparency, but recent trends, such as Sweden’s declining Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) score, reveal growing vulnerabilities. This panel will unpack how institutional investors can navigate and mitigate corruption risks in a shifting Nordic landscape. Discussions will focus on due diligence practices for high-risk sectors like construction and healthcare, strategies for assessing municipal procurement risks, and ensuring long-term reputational protection. Learn from experts and investors who have successfully identified and managed unethical business practices, ensuring compliance without compromising growth.
Clean energy export ambitions: the role of institutional investors
The Nordic countries are not just transforming their domestic energy systems—they’re positioning themselves as exporters of clean energy to the EU and beyond. Institutional investors are uniquely placed to finance and shape this transition. This panel explores the opportunities in clean energy infrastructure projects, the geopolitical and regulatory risks tied to energy exports, and how investors can align their portfolios with Nordic ambitions. Discussions will include successful case studies, strategies for navigating local opposition to green projects, and the role of institutional capital in fostering innovation.
Deep tech and critical infrastructure: a safe bet for institutional investors?
This topic examines the unique scalability and profitability potential of deep tech in the Nordics. Key topics include the role of institutional capital in accelerating deep tech innovation, opportunities in critical infrastructure investments amidst rising cyber threats, and how these start-ups bridge sustainability and profitability. With insights from founders and investors, this discussion will highlight the strategic importance of deep tech as part of a forward-looking portfolio.
